A young child prodigy presents his work to royalty and is hailed as a genius - while most associate a story like this with Mozart, Erich Korngold had a similar life. After being hailed by Mahler as a genius and studying with Zemlinsky, his ballet Der Schneemann (The Snowman) was performed by the Vienna Court Opera in 1910 (Korngold composed the work at the age of 11). A command performance was given for Emperor Franz Josef.

This is a new edition of the Overture to the ballet, researched from the full ballet score and correcting numerous errors and mistakes in the original edition. It is a light-hearted and pleasant work for orchestra and is clearly mature beyond the work of most composers three or four times the age of the young Korngold.

Please note that this work is available both in standard score size (8.5 x 11 inches) and conductor score size (11 x 14 inches, spiral bound).
