William Buelow, born in Cincinnati, is known as both an accomplished pianist and a composer. Mr. Buelow served on the faculty of Marietta College for many years, including serving as Chair of the Music Department. Many of Mr. Buelow's compositions are for vocalists or vocal ensembles, however he has shown a great talent in writing for a variety of instrumental ensembles as well.

Musical America said of Mr. Buelow:

His music exhibits influences of jazz, neo-romantic, and expressionistic styles. Like Schubert, Buelow employs text painting to bring the poems to life.
