Vasily Prisovsky (1861 - 1917) was a Ukranian composer and bandmaster, of whom we know very little about. He wrote several popular piano works in the early 1900s, and conducted the brass band of the 132 Bender Infantry Regiment.

Autumn Violins is one of his many works for piano, and was written in 1915, This composition starts off ominously, before opening up to the main theme, accompanied by arpeggios in the left hand. The melody is slightly gloomy, yet that doesn't take away from the attractiveness of it. If anything, the piece is a good musical description of a dark, rainy, autumn day.

Sadly, we couldn't find any recordings of this work; we hope that changes soon!
