Ferdinand HIller, 1811-1885, was a German composer, conductor, and pianist. A student of Hummel's, Hiller is often noted today for his presence beside Hummel at Beethoven's death and subsequent acquisition of a lock of Beethoven's hair. His music was popular at the time, however much of it has fallen into obscurity in the subsequent years.
