Handel: Orlando

Handel's opera Orlando, HWV 31, was first performed in 1733 and served to capitalize on desires for Italian opera in London. In the opera, Handel pushed the conventions of opera seria into new areas and the opera was well received, though subsequent increases in ticket prices led to much ill will toward Handel's opera company. This edition seeks to minimize the editorial conventions found in other editions and provide a source as close to the original intentions as possible.
